The 1968 Apparition of the Virgin Mary at her Church in Zeitoun
On the evening of the Tuesday 2 April 1968 (24 Paramhat 1684 AM), during the Papacy of
Pope Kyrillos VI,
the Virgin Mary appeared in various forms of celestial light at her Church in Zeitoun, Cairo.
The following details make the apparition distinct:
T
he Virgin appeared in various forms of celestial light that the crowds saw very clearly. Accompanying the virgin was a variety of celestial apparitions such as illuminated doves, clouds of light, and intense billows of incense whose source was unknown.
Among the first ones to witness the apparition were Muslim workers at the bus garage across the street from the church.
The apparition brought about many miracles that were witnessed by and occurred to Christians and non-Christians alike. Competent doctors who conducted medical tests on those who were miraculously healed confirmed the veracity of these miracles.
Those who witnessed the apparition on a nightly basis reached into the tens of thousands. People of all ethnicities and religions saw the Virgin with their own eyes and raised their hands to her asking for her intercession by means of songs of praise, jubilation, and tears.
On some nights the apparition lasted for a few hours non-stop.
The successive nightly apparition of the Virgin lasted for more than two yars in the manner previously unknown to the east or the west.
Forty years after this great apparition thousands of those living in the Zeitoun area and outside of it continue to testify to what they observed regarding the apparition and the miracles that happened to them. The church in Zeitoun is currently collecting these testimonials that they may be available to anyone who would like to peruse them.
Jesus answered ," if I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you ? you must follow me" (john:21-22 )
One of the artist painted a picture of Jesus based on that verse . The picture shows the Lord God pointing with His finger at saint Peter and looking at him The artist wrote at the bottom of the picture (Follow me )
When we read the Book of John (John21:18-23 )we will notice that saint Peter was concerned about the life future of his friend saint John and how the end of his life would be . Jesus assured him about that and told him that He is capable of doing every thing even He can keep saint John alive until He returns .
Jesus also told saint Peter not to be curious about things which are not his concern . curiosity to know every thing about others and how their life goes makes man's mind occupied with others all the time which takes him away from what is more important for his life . Curiosity also may make man does such a sin which is talking about others in their absence . he may like to know all about people's life such as work, services and so on ,that will make him get into conclusions ( which may not be true ) to blame everyone around him and this will take man away from his own life , work and services at the church .
But the spiritual person never waste his time and effort with curiosity he only concern about his own life and the main aim of life which is LIFE AFTER DEATH .
My beloved sisters and brothers we should remember Jesus looks whenever we feel that bad curiosity and see Him pointing at us with His finger saying ( You must follow Me )
